Jan/Feb Mileage Stats

100 crunches
5 miles

6 girl scout cookies, 1 graham cracker and 2 pieces of candy.  Ugh.

Running stats for the first two months

January - 79 miles
February - 78 miles

George would be so disappointed in my low mileage.  Maybe I can take minimal mileage ultra training to an extreme this year.  I'm feeling fit and healthy, so I don't plan on changing anything.

This is the bodyfat scale I ordered.  It wirelessly communicates your results to an app on your phone, which seems kind of cool.

  1. I get the feeling George wouldn't be that disappointed. If what your doing is working for you (and more importantly, you ENJOY what your doing) then stick with it...except your diet, that is disappointing :-).

What route did you take up Peavine the other day?

  2. I parked at the end of Sandestin road. There is a gate there with a road that goes up to the water tower. About 200 feet up take the dirt road to the left up the canyon. Stay in the bottom of the canyon the whole time. That road goes straight up and hits Peavine Road just below the lower radar tower. Then take Peavine Road to the summit. It is the cleanest route I have found from the south side of the mountain. About 4 miles from trailhead to the peak.

  3. Thanks Ken! I'd never given that canyon much thought. I usually stick to a ridgeline a little to the east (old Silver State 50 route) or start in Keystone and take one of the myriad of different ways to get to Peavine Road. Nice to know of a "new" short, direct way to maximize vert. when short on time!

  4. I've tried all of those as well. I like this one because it is just a steady climb and doesn't have a bunch of steep rollers. No wind in the canyon and it feels a bit less barren than running the other routes. I also saw 4 deer and a coyote too!
